Two years ago I was finishing up exams at the University of Guelph, knowing very well I wouldn’t be returning the following year. Instead I decided to go back to my home town and try out Niagara College’s Digital Photography program. Best decision of my life.
I met some of the greatest people these past two years. My teachers taught me everything…not just how to be a great photographer, but how to succeed in life and become a great person. I will never forget my Foto Fam. We started out as a bunch of mismatched individuals who didn’t know what sync speed was…now we are family who know that sync speed is “The fastest possible shutter speed when using flash to obtain a full framed image”. (Thank you Scott Kenney) There’s no doubt in my mind we will always be there for each other.
Lastly I met my boyfriend. He was the 2nd year all of us 1st years looked up to…and who I still look up to every day.
Now it’s over and frankly I don’t know whether I’m happy or sad. I’m happy I don’t have to drive to and from Toronto every week to attend class while running my business at the same time. I’m sad that I won’t shoot another assignment in the studio. I’m sad that Grace won’t be there to guide us. But most of all I’m sad that I won’t see my friends every day. They are the ones who made my college experience what it was…the absolute best.
